I spotted sweet, beautiful April in a local high kill shelter and kept watching and hoping someone would save her and get her out before her time was up. No one was taking her. She watched as all the other dogs around her were being rescued or adopted and some put to sleep. I really had no room for another dog at home. Then she became listed as urgent with her time ending the next morning. I decided I had to somehow make room for her and keep her until I could have her spayed and vetted, then find her a wonderful, new, forever home. We kept her inside, leashed trained her, potty trained her and taught her a few basic commands while searching for her home. For several months, I tried posting her on Facebook and a few other websites, I asked friends and family and also contacted several rescues and had no potential leads of a good home for this sweet girl. Then, someone mentioned Rescue Me! I am so glad they did! I posted her and within a day or so, she had several very good potential adopters that were very interested in her. I had to sort through many emails and phone calls and got to pick where I thought would be the best match and home for my April as well as for what the adopter was looking for. This couple (which did have great references) had just recently lost a Redbone they had for many years, to cancer. They came across my post for April and had to meet her. I think it was love at first sight! She is now living a life of luxury in her new home, on their couches, chairs and bed, visits to the family farm on the weekends, being spoiled rotten and loved very much! Thank you, Rescue Me, for making this possible for her! | | |
