|Rescue Me ID: 14-07-10-00033Hank (male)|
I am desperately trying to find a loving home or rescue for Hank. Hank is a one year old hound dog who was dumped in my neighborhood about a year ago. He had been shot in the face and was terrified of people. He has finally started to come around me and is learning to trust people again. He still has a long way to go and needs a very patient and loving home. He is an outside dog and loves playing with dogs his size. He weighs about 70lbs. He is neutered, fully vetted, and heartworm negative. He has never been around children so I do not know how he would do but does great with medium to large dogs. He does show aggression towards small animals and needs to be in a home with no cats or small dogs. He is free to a loving home. I am DESPERATE to find him a home before he gets sent to a shelter. PLEASE if you can help call or text me asap. (254)733-8359. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 14-06-30-00294Detour (female)|
Detour is a happy, playful, and energetic hound/lab mix. She is approximately 1.5 years old (06/2014) and weighs 48 lbs. Detour is still very much like a puppy. She likes to run and play, tear up squeaky toys and chew on rawhide. Because she is still in her chewy phase and she was not raised in a home, she also sometimes enjoys chewing on non-doggy items such as pillows, blankets and shoes. When this happens, she is redirected to focus on a toy or rawhide to teach her what is ok and what is not. Detour has a lot of energy and would make a great running companion! She is good around new people. She wants to greet everyone, but can be a little hesitant or shy if they initially move too quickly when saying hello. She has done well with the few kids she has met. However, Detour does not always recognize the difference between people and puppies. As a result she often nips at people to get their attention or to get them to play. She is learning the difference between people and pups, but it will take some time. A home with small children might not be a good fit until she has mastered this. Detour is good with other dogs and is generally submissive towards them. So far she has been non-reactive towards the cats in her foster home. Detour does not like loud metallic and mechanical noises. She shies away from things like running air conditioner compressors, motorcycles, and large commercial vehicles (semis, dump trucks and busses). She is also sometimes scared by quick movements. As she is introduced to new things, Detour is becoming more comfortable with her surroundings. Detour was found quite by accident when her foster mom was forced to take a detour on the way to work one morning. She spotted a small dog in a gravel lot and stopped to check on it when Detour popped up out of the nearby field hoping for attention and food. Her foster mom fed her in the field for a few days until one day Detour decided to follow her car into traffic. That was the end of her field days and the beginning of her life in a foster home! Detour is a friendly, happy puppy who is spayed, vaccinated, micro-chipped, heartworm negative and on monthly HW prevention. She is also house/potty-trained and crate-trained, but still getting used to being an inside pup. She is just beginning to learn basic obedience skills such as 'Sit' and 'Stay/Wait.' Her ideal guardian will continue to teach her basic obedience and will continue her introduction to new things. She would also love to have a running buddy! Ultimately, Detour's ideal guardian would be someone who has the patience and commitment to work with her as she becomes more comfortable in the human world. If you, or someone you know, would like to meet and/or adopt Detour, please fill out an adoption application on our website at: www.forgottendogs.org/adoption_application Thanks! (Less)

However they are very aggressive toward snakes and rodents including cats and chickens. We now live in a neighborhood in Columbus TX and they are confined to a yard. |Rescue Me ID: 14-05-24-00292Wilma (female)|
Wilma, her sister and mom were abandoned and horribly neglected, but her smart momma carried both of her pups to the house of the neighborhood dog lover where she knew they would all get help. Wilma is 9 months old, about 45 lbs, affectionate and fun loving. She can be shy and nervous around new dogs and people, but with a little patience, she warms up quickly and giving kisses. Her mom is a very laid back, calm dog so it is expected Wilma will be as well when full grown. Wilma, who is now in a foster home, is looking for a forever home where she will live out her life, playing outside, going for walks, watching TV curled up next to her human and then sleeping in her very own bed inside as a part of the family. She is a healthy girl except for a little arthritis now and then in her right leg, maybe due to an injury as a small pup. Wilma can be adopted through Pup Squad Animal Rescue. A vet reference is required, as well as a home visit to determine if it's a good fit for the family and for Wilma. Wilma is also micro-chipped. To find out more or ask questions about Wilma, email email@example.com To fill out an application go to http://pupsquad.org/adopt/ (Less)

|Animal ID: 14-04-09-00525Dumpling (female)|
Dumpling is a sweet Catahoula/Redbone mix. She has lived her 6 years in the country and needs another family to raise her in the country. She would love to spend her days running free, chasing rabbits and riding around in the back of a pickup truck with a farmer! Her new family needs to know some of Dumplings traits: * She's not a house dog. * She will walk with a leash:) * We pen her up when the grand kids come to visit so we are no sure how well she responds to children:/ * She is friendly with our lab but she has not been exposed to other dogs. I think that she would enjoy their company:) *She's afraid of lightning:( *She's good at detecting snakes around the house:) *Her short hair requires no grooming:) (Less)
