Animal ID: 070714K2GARRETT (male)

Redbone Coonhound    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

Garrett is a super sweet boy. He is pretty intimidated in the shelter, but he was glad to get outside and visit for a while. He's friendly, sweet, laid back, calm and very good with kids. He was a bit nervous at first and flinched slightly when we would touch him but he quickly realize we weren't going to hurt him. Once he did, he settled right in and enjoyed his visit, happily sitting with us and giving us plenty of smiles.

Rescue Me ID: 17-07-06-00462Allie (female)

Redbone Coonhound Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Allie is an approximate 11-12mo old female, my fiancee and I got her from a rescue group near us when she was about 8 weeks old. She is a very very good dog. She is very personable; in which I mean she pays attention to her owners, follows them around, watches them, wants to be at their feet when relaxing, and if given a chance will put her self right up to your face and nibble on your ear lobe while licking your face to say hi. She loves to play and play fetch, and when she wants your attention, she will usually put her paw on your arm or leg. Allie sits and lays on command. She has been kennel trained since day 1, and is in there ... (Read More)while we are at work and when we go to sleep. At the end of the day I tell her,'it is time to go night night'. Usually she will automatically go in there... though sometimes she lets me know she isn't ready and tries to hang out somewhere else, but will always come to me when called. Allie is also potty trained, she will go to the door when she is needing to go outside and usually has no problems being left in her kennel during the day while we are at work... gone for about 10hrs. She has gone from being scared of everything when going on walks to not really caring for wearing a collar but once she gets out front, she wants to lead. I've been trying to work with her on staying next to my side on her own and to sit at curbs when crossing the street (she's getting there, but still needs work). She loves my daughter (12) and my soon to be step son (8), and has always done very well with kids. She is a bit nervous around strangers, but not in an aggressive way... more the opposite. She has just started to find her voice / bark in the last month or so. Lets us know if there is something going on in the neighbors backyard that doesn't sit well with her or if she hears something in the front. Not all is perfect though. She is a puppy, and a hound to boot. So her nose leads her to find things that she will chew / destroy in a heartbeat if left unattended (pens, anything cardboard, action figures, bra straps.. and the occasional plate of food that was left at her level for a minute). She also has a habit of getting too excited when seeing someone she loves and jumps up sometimes. Neither of these things are matters which can be corrected with a solid trainer though. What I don't know if it can be trained out of her or not is her fondness of playing with cats. She is currently indoors with a few of them, and certain ones she loves to chase when they run. Other times, she may just wet their tail or pin them down. She doesn't mean any harm to them from what I can tell... but thought I would make that bit known. She can also be a bit stubborn, which is part of the breed from what I read, and she can be pretty persistent on letting you know that she wants to play. However, none of this is why we are needing to find her a new home. Fact is, not everyone in the home really wants her here... but this wasn't known until after we got her. We have tried various things, but in the end... having a dog in the house isn't doing a benefit for the home as a whole. I've had a number of dogs in my life, and this one is a special one... at least to me she is. She needs an owner with a means to give her exercise regularly, will be patient with her when she goofs up (because she will) and not abusive or mean, will provide honest love and want for her to be there, as well as a means in providing and executing to allowing her to stay outside of her kennel a fair portion of the day... if not night as well. She was just taken to the vet at the end of June, where I had all of her vaccinations and testing done at once... so she should be good for the rest of the year. I put she is a mix, because I don't know what else she might be... but I do know that I am not sure if she is a pure breed or not. Rather error on the side of caution. She would come with a wire kennel, her chew toys, rabies dog tag, and a dog food container that can fit approx. 30lbs of dry dog food in it. Serious inquiries only... you must provide me with your current vets name and the vets business name that you would use with Allie. Also, a house visit to your location is needed. This dog is not for you if this is to be your first dog. (Less)
