Redbone Coonhound    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Female Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

3 year old neutered male. He is a purebred Redbone Coonhound, and is absolutely stunning. He is approx. 85 lbs, but could definitely stand to lose a few pounds. Buster was abandoned at a boarding facility by his previous owners. Buster LOVES everyone he meets. He is very friendly to people large and small. He is a leaner, and will press into your legs when you give him a back scratch. He would make an excellent hiking companion. Like most hounds, Buster has very HIGH prey drive. I would not recommend him to a home with small animals. He is great with kids, and is extremely loving. He always has a silly grin on his face. He is a very devoted ... (Read More)dog that is housetrained. He is a couch potato that is looking for a home that understands hounds. Buster is dog selective with large alpha male dogs, so would do best as an only animal, or with another submissive female. He is a wonderful companion animal. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-12-28-00655Carrot (male)

Redbone Coonhound Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Carrot is a very sweet, loving, easy-going pup. I adopted him from the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter in September. When I got him, he was painfully skinny and did not look well. I went in looking for a senior dog, and the shelter said he was about 6 years old. Once he came home, put on some weight, got healthy, and started being loved, it became very clear that Carrot is no senior. My vet agrees that he is probably under 2 years old. My household is perfect for a senior dog, but we are just not the right home for this lovable, high-energy pup. We've tried, and it's not working for him or us. We have a cat, a small, blind ... (Read More)dog, a small child, and chickens. He is 100% fine with all of those. He's a typical hound - plays hard and sleeps like the dead. He gives love like crazy and is so very sweet. He cowers at loud voices or sudden movements, making me think someone used to hit him. He also has a fatal attraction to trash cans - I'm guessing they were the only meal source he had for a long time and he simply cannot leave them alone. He deserves a wonderful, loving, active home. I work very long shifts and he just doesn't like being alone while I'm gone. The adoption fee is to cover the medication I've purchased for him, and will send with him: Four months remaining of Heartgard, one three-month dose of Bravecta, and a bottle of ear cleaner (he got a yeast infection in his ears. It's cleared, but he needs them cleaned every so often). I'll also send his collar, harness, and leash. If you want his elevated food bowls, they're yours. (He has a weird habit of knocking his bowl over, and the raised bowls fixed that.) As far as purebred or mixed, I don't have any idea. He looks purebred, but there is no way to get any history on him. (Less)

Winchester is sweet and loving. However, he has started jumping my chain link fence and I don't want my other dogs picking up the habit. He weighs about 35#. Never been around children but is not good with small dogs. I think he sees them as prey. The only reason I am asking an adoption fee is to keep him from going to a dog fighter. Please someone give him a good home so I don't have to take him to the pound. I don't know if he is a mix or pure blood.
