Animal ID: 121212Cooner (male)

Redbone Coonhound    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Vaccinations Current

I found Cooner at my work place. He was skin and bone when he ran right in front of my car. It took me 45 min to get him to trust me. He was scared and was running away from me every time I attempted to touch him. With bunch of treats he finally started trusting me and letting me pet him. The next day I took him to the vet and he was only 39lb. Vet believes that he was former hunting dog. He did not have chip or collar around his neck. He had hook worms but he was de wormed the same day. He got all his shots and got tested on heartworms which was negative. This coming Friday he have appt to get fixed. Vet believes that Cooner is about 2 ... (Read More)years old but I think that he is younger maybe 1 or 1 and half. He is in process of learning house manners. Potty training is going great but he does like to steal things and chew on them. He does like to counter surf and steal food. He will need an owner that will have patience to train him properly and give him a chance. He gets along with all of my other 6 small dogs. My friend said that he was good with her cat the night she took him in but I am not 100% on that. He is gentle around my 3 year old and have no aggressive bone in him. He is very submissive and scared until he gains humans trust. He will need big yard and a lot of exercise. Coons are known to get bored and do destructive things so exercise exercise and exercise will be required. He will NOT be used as hunting dog again but as family pet. Cooner is crate trained and walks well on the leash. He will have to be walked on the leash by adult due to him being former hunting dog he might dart off if he sees a rabbit or some other small animal. Cooner is in MS but his transport can be arranged to wherever good home is found for him in the United States. (Less)
